Come hang out, get informed, and be part of something important!

AGENDA

 –

Main Session (All Attendees)

Sex Trafficking 101: What You Need to Know— This foundational session provides a clear and comprehensive overview of sex trafficking—what it is, how it happens, and who is most at risk. Attendees will learn about common misconceptions, recruitment tactics, and the realities of exploitation both locally and beyond. We will also share how Lighthouse for Life is working to prevent trafficking and support survivors, and how you can play a role in creating safer, more informed communities.

 –

Panel Discussion (All Attendees)

Community Response: Addressing Trafficking Together— Immediately following the main session, attendees will hear from a panel of professionals working on the front lines of combating trafficking. This discussion will include representatives from Lighthouse for Life, lived experience experts, local law enforcement, SLED, and a local pastor, offering a well-rounded perspective on prevention, investigation, and response. Panelists will share insights into how trafficking is being addressed in our state, the challenges they face, and how community members can play a role in supporting these efforts. A Q&A portion will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with panelists.

 –

Box Lunch (provided)

A box lunch will be provided for all attendees to take with them to their breakout sessions!

Breakout Sessions:

For Parents

Protecting Your Child: Awareness, Online Safety, and Real Conversations — Parents are often the first line of defense. This session will help you understand how trafficking can impact youth, including online risks, grooming tactics, and warning signs. You’ll also gain tools for having age-appropriate, honest conversations with your children and building protective relationships at home. Time will be set aside for Q&A so you can ask real-life questions and leave feeling more confident and equipped.

For Students

Staying Safe & Looking Out for Each Other— This interactive session is designed for students to better understand how trafficking happens, especially through social media and peer relationships. We’ll talk about red flags, healthy boundaries, and how to support a friend who may be in an unsafe situation. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions in a safe, judgment-free Q&A at the end.

For Direct Service Providers

Recognizing & Responding: Supporting Individuals at Risk of Exploitation— For professionals working in social services, healthcare, education, or related fields, this session will focus on identifying risk factors and indicators of trafficking within your client population. We’ll discuss trauma-informed responses, appropriate referrals, and how to collaborate effectively with community resources. A Q&A portion will give space to discuss scenarios, challenges, and best practices relevant to your work.

For Pastors & Church Leaders

Leading with Awareness: Equipping the Church to Respond to Trafficking — Church leaders play a critical role in recognizing vulnerability, supporting those at risk, and creating safe, informed communities. This breakout will explore how sex trafficking intersects with your congregation and community, how to respond to disclosures, and practical ways your church can be part of prevention and restoration efforts. A dedicated Q&A time will allow you to ask questions specific to your ministry context and challenges.

It's about the one.

…[it can feel] like this problem is too huge and this is fighting a losing battle, but then you remember it’s about the one. Because I’m one. And all the people that were instrumental in my getting out of that life and my healing, if they had said, ‘Oh I can’t solve the whole problem, so let’s just give up,’ then where would I be?
