We Empower Survivors

to walk in victory and freedom.

We walk alongside survivors of sex trafficking, helping to support and empower them through their restoration process.

Karis home

Karis Home is our long-term residential care program for biological females of sex trafficking age 12-21. We embrace a therapeutic model of care that uses a holistic, trauma-informed perspective to encourage the self-empowerment of each resident in the home. The program follows the principles of understanding trauma and its impact, promoting safety, ensuring cultural competence, supporting resident control, choice, and autonomy, providing integrative care, promoting positive relationships, and believing recovery is possible.

*Karis Home is currently on hold.

The Harbor

Lighthouse for Life’s Survivor Support Program is housed at The Harbor, our safe haven for individuals who have experienced exploitation and trafficking. Our team is available to provide short- and long-term support to survivors based upon their individual needs. The Harbor also contains the Midlands’ first drop-in center for adult women who have experienced exploitation and trafficking. Services include meal, laundry, and shower access during drop-in service hours (typically Tuesdays – Thursdays 10 AM – 3 PM).

We took this property, cleaned up everything that had been broken, and restored its original beauty, while also incorporating its scars into a new future as it serves as a place of safety and hope in its community. In the same way, our Survivor Support program serves to restore the original God-given identity of the broken individuals that come through our doors here at The Harbor, guiding them forward into a life full of hope and belonging.

Short-term Care

We provide a caring and supportive space for victims to feel safe.

We give information and “Freedom Bags” to help meet physical needs.

We engage survivors in a 12-week support group utilizing the Ending the Game curriculum, to help them re-establish healthy relationships (also available to those participating in our short-term care).

We connect survivors and families with trusted resources and referrals who can best meet their individualized human trafficking needs.

Long-Term Care

We offer one-to-one support through individualized care plans for each survivor.

We connect survivors to trauma-informed counselors to help them unravel their past and reframe their future.

We create opportunities for survivors to build healthy relationships and life skills through volunteers who provide support, such as faith formation, financial literacy, and joy building.

We provide assistance with various needs (such as clothing/food, counseling, education, legal needs, tattoo cover-ups, etc.).
